Thank you for an enjoyable podcast. Do you think that the H. Maguire transfer ruined the defence market as several top clubs failed to “shore up” C/B L/B and R/B positions? Gbamin has played C/B also I think you can bring U23s into the squad which would explain why Gibson played C/B throughout the preseason. Brands has pulled off a fiscal miracle with the quality of players he has managed to bring in. We will lose more deadwood as the European market does not close for a few weeks.
Thanks Terry appreciate your comment. I’d agree with you entirely. I think there’s a premium on defenders with PL experience even before Maguire’s move. I’m sure we could have found value elsewhere but the risk is not having experience of the PL. High risk strategy by all involved IMO
