Everton Football Club has revealed the final designs of our new 52,000 capacity stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock on Liverpool’s waterfront, before a detailed planning application is submitted to Liverpool City Council today.
The key features are as follows:
- 52,000 seat capacity with the “home” South stand having a capacity of 13,000.*
- The lower tiers of both the South and North stands are designed to be converted to “safe standing” should legislation change in the future. They will not feature “rail seating” immediately unless as above legislation has changed.
- “A stunning brick, steel and glass stadium which takes its inspiration from the historic maritime and warehouse buildings nearby.”
- Extensive public spaces for use on matchdays and non-matchdays featuring a Fan Plaza to the east of the stadium which will provide a focus for pre and post-match entertainment and activity.
- A water channel would be maintained to the west of the stadium to ensure the visual continuity of the dock system – a key feature of the Outstanding Universal Value of the World Heritage Site – with the historic dock wall on the western side of the channel exposed.
- The car park has now been integrated into the stadium itself (see picture below)
- There is no announcement of the main contractor nor of the funding solutions. This will only be published after a successful application.
- There are no interior concourse images published as their designs are currently incomplete.
- The planning application will be published on Liverpool City Council’s website once the application has been checked by LCC. It is expected to take “several weeks” to do so.

*The proposed South stand will be the 5th largest single “end” stand in the Premier League after Tottenham Hotspur South Stand – 17,500 capacity, Manchester United’s Stretford End – 14,263 capacity, Aston Villa’s Holte End – 13,472 capacity, and Manchester United’s East Stand – 13,307 capacity.
