Talking the Blues Podcast, Tottenham Hotspur (H), and the the Independent Commission Appeal

Welcome to this week’s Talking the Blues Podcast with George and Andy Costigan. We look back on Everton’s fighting 2-2 draw at Goodison versus Tottenham before a detailed look at how we probably addressed the appeal hearing following the 10 point penalty unjustly handed to Everton.

  1. One of the stand out contradictions in the Commissions findings and penalty was their conclusion that Everton gained no sporting advantage from the overspend. They then imposed a sporting penalty!

    • But they didn’t, if you read the report fully, they state that Everton achieved a sporting advantage over 3 or 4 seasons I can’t remember which, however, it’s in there.

  2. Superb, really enjoyed that this week lads, thank you.
Richarlison deserves all the plaudits he received 💙

  3. On Richarlison, his actions were respectful. You don’t get that from many players these days. Going back in time, I think Alan Ball, and although not Everton, Dennis Law when he sent Manchester United down and looked devastated. They are paid to do a job, but it doesn’t always take away the sentiment.

There’s a great story about Richarlison seeing a young Evertonian outside his house in Crosby and was waving at him. He opened the window and told him and his mum to wait as he was bringing him a shirt and then stood for a photo.

Often some criticise South Americans for their mentality and not being tough enough. We have to remember some of the areas and backgrounds a lot of them come from. He’s very humble and I didn’t mind the sulking on the pitch. It meant he gave a shit.

Top player. Top man. Still only 26 so still time to reach his peak.

I think the self-proclaimed best league in the world has backed itself into a corner and as discussed, this is not just about Everton.

The Sky censorship is pathetic. Nothing to see here springs to mind.

I like watching the Bundesliga and follow Schalke, going out to watch them once or twice a season. Great experience, great atmospheres.

The “Konigsblauen” (Royal Blues). Named after the district in the north of their home city of Gelsenkirchen. Past success but have long lived in the shadow of their Derby rivals Dortmund with their Klopp connections and whose supporters sing that song that should not be mentioned.

    Sound familiar?

I’d recommend the Bundesliga to anyone.

  4. I’m certain that I’ve read that the outcome of the appeal would be announced in the middle of this month. Having to wait until April is wrong on so many levels.

    • The general opinion is that the outcome of the appeal will be before the end of February . The second charge will be heard before April ?
