Talking the Blues Podcast, Manchester United (a) and club updates

When there are more Salfordians hosting an Everton podcast than there are inside Old Trafford on a matchday you know it says a great deal about modern football. We look back with Andy and George Costigan at today’s game at Old Trafford. There’s a surprising difference of opinion as to Everton’s performance, and of course, we look at the latest surrounding Everton’s ownership issues.

The usual mix of forthright opinions, some humour  (the Monty Python reference is here) and a big shout out to those using our transcript service – we are delighted it is of use.

  1. Superb chat today chaps, really enjoyed that. Could say so much, but I think you’ve pretty much covered it. My main concern is who is Dyche accountable to at the club on a daily/weekly basis – apart from us the fans, of course! Transcript is a great idea btw.

  2. Hi fellas, great discussion as usual. 👏👏👏

You only have to review social media to see just how diverse the opinions were about that game.

I’m more George this week. I didn’t see what Paul and Andy saw at all.

Fractions separate our recent performances and stats that turn losses into draws and draws into wins. I’ve said it a 1000 times – confidence at this level is the difference.

Harrison is very predictable but unlike others I think he has pace that gets him into good positions but his constant desire to pull it back onto his left foot makes the difference between a defence running back to their goal and getting set ready to receive a cross. On the left we don’t free up Myko enough and everything seems to have to go to O’Neil who isn’t in form at all.

I think Andy is a little off with shots on target. Onana was forced into a couple of very decent saves that didn’t come from set plays.

The 2nd half was disappointing though.

I do think we are all guilty at times of comparing this squad with those that have gone before and a dose of reality about where our real position and state is needed.

It is and has for some time been all about the finishing. We can’t escape it, whatever is going on with our strikers needs to change quickly but I don’t think any of us are qualified to know what DCL or BETO needs to do differently other than bloody score!!

We are all drained, that promotes negativity and that makes you see everything that is wrong and skip over those situations that are decent but don’t end up in a goal.

You guys have to check out the Academy a little more – look for Ebere- scored two hatricks for the u- 18’s in his last 2 games. Looks every bit like a Lukaku already in his size and style.
Kouyate, Okoronko, Finney, Dixon. There are others. Dyche says they aren’t ready – I don’t know if they are but they look excellent at the level they are playing at.

Mainoo and Garnacho were Utd’s best 2 players – both teenagers.

We have to be prepared to stick them in and let them learn.

    Cheers

    Keith
