  1. Esk,,just a theory,,,,Remember Mark Carney (Ex-Governor Bank of Canada/England,etc)

In August 2023, Carney was named by Michael Bloomberg as chair of the new board of directors for Bloomberg L.P. as part of a broader reshuffle of the company’s leadership.

In October 2023, Carney endorsed the UK Labour Party’s Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves to be the next Chancellor of the Exchequer in a video following Reeves’ speech at the Labour Party conference that year. [58]

Carney speaks fluent French. In addition to his Canadian citizenship, he also holds Irish
(two of his grandparents are from County Mayo) and British citizenship.
He has distant relatives in Liverpool, and,he is a Supporter of Everton FC.

Could it be that Carney/Bloomberg or some cohorts might be sitting in the weed’s,?????
Might explain why Bloomberg was only outfit leaked the 777 letter,????.
    Time will tell I guess.

  2. On the football shirt issues Paul, I saw on the Everton website that there was a sale on of Hummel kits. I was heading into Liverpool 1 on Saturday afternoon, so thought I’d call into the Everton shop, expecting it to be busy. The shop was empty, no customers at all, which I thought strange. But when I looked at the prices they were substantially higher than on the Everton website. eg £25 as against £15. When I raised this with a member of staff, I was told the shop and the website are 2 different companies and they wouldn’t match the prices. What is that all about?

  3. This takeover whether we agree with or not (I’m personally nervous), is dragging along like some of the trains I travel on. Just decide one way or the other. Then we can move on to whatever the future holds. Something needs to happen.

On Simms, time will tell. Sunderland, Hearts and Coventry are a different level. He’s doing well, but it’s a different level. He’s not an Everton player anymore but I loved it when he bullied the Chelsea centre back to grab a late equaliser at the far end as we watched from the corner of the Shed End and exploded when it hit the back of the net. But would he do that on a consistent basis in the Premier League?

It’s all about opinions. I’m undecided on him at the top level, but I hope dropping down and getting game time and confidence will help him get there. I think it is important for players to play and if that means dropping down then that is better than warming the bench, so good on him. He wants to play football. Many just take the money.

With regards to style of play, it doesn’t matter who the forward player is. If there is no supply, they won’t succeed. I always say that games are won or lost in midfield. Our midfield is largely absent or bypassed.

I was up in Liverpool yesterday for a proper Liverpool-Irish Catholic funeral. Mostly blues but a smattering of red cousins. I’m all for expanding our fanbase. But as yesterday taught me, you never forget your roots. Some lively conversation!

To our marketing. I don’t want to become a Liverpool or a Manchester United. But we need to develop the brand and expand the fan base.

West Ham? To coin an 80s advert “who are they”? Likewise Tottenham. Everton intrigue supporters all over the country. We are massive, we just need to unlock the potential.

The supporters can influence. There are too many of us who will never give in. Closer to home, we have Bournemouth next. Let’s win that before the important matches coming up.

And take that lot to the sword at Goodison.

  4. Hi Paul, interesting pod again.

Regarding the current loan that 777 have provided, it’s widely reported that it converts to equity on completion of a deal but I wonder whether there is @£200m worth of equity in the club. Moshiri’s shares certainly aren’t worth this amount. Would any delta be new shares? This would dilute 777’s holding? Also, if it converts albeit 777 has borrowed the money it doesn’t show as an EFC debt so they would have met the 35% you mention?

    Cheers.

    • Hi Graham I can’t see 777 paying mid teen % interest costs on funds they’ve converted to equity and they don’t have the cash to pay off those loans.
If they did convert it would be an issue of new shares
