Welcome to the final Talking the Blues podcast before the season starts properly against Southampton next Saturday. In front of 55,000 spectators, including 1500 travelling Blues, Everton finished their pre-season with a 4-0 walloping from Manchester United.

We look back at the game, as questions such as what was Benitez’s reaction post game, what are his expectations for the season and whether this week he will add more detail to his objectives. “Improving” probably needs a greater explanation (i) so fans can set their expectations and (ii) some accountability along the way.
